| Nickel-Coated Boron Nitride (BN) |
Ni-coated boron nitride was developed for abradable seal applications. A blend of Ni and BN is thermally sprayed on jet engines as an abradable seal coating. By using Ni-coated BN instead, the boron nitride, capture rate and coating composition uniformity will be improved greatly. Besides improving uniformity, boron nitride's other properties include:
- Electrical insulation
- High-temperature stability
- Thermal conductivity
- Inert
- Lubricious
